Herøya Industry Park

Herøya Industrial Park is one of the biggest industrial parks in Norway and is situated in the municipality of Porsgrunn in Telemark, 150 km south of Oslo. With its strategic location on the coast in the far south of Norway, Herøya Industrial Park is the best choice for export companies and anyone who needs fast, efficient links with Europe and the rest of the world. About 80 businesses with approx. 2.500 employees have established themselves at Herøya Industrial Park.

Herøya Industrial Park is at the forefront of testing the autonomous transport solutions of the future. The industrial park has been chosen as Living Lab, a living test area, in the EU’s large-scale investment in intelligent intermodal transport.

Here, on behalf of the EU, test drive an autonomous escort service for freight transport. The goal of the EU project ORCHESTRA is to realize the digital and green intermodal transport solutions of the future.

Critical test operations will be carried out in a fully operational gateway for freight transport on Herøya for the next three years. A robotic escort service and a digital traffic system that unloads goods transport safely in and out will be used.
